In just two years you’ll go from total novice to an industry qualified hairstylist, with extensive experience working on real clients. 

The programme includes the following levels of study:

NZ Certificate in Hairdressing Salon Support Level 3 

Learn the basics of cutting, styling and colouring, along with the communication skills and the technical know-how to put it all together. 

Hairdressing Emerging Stylist Level 4

The real-world environment of this final qualifying course will help you develop your creativity with new approaches to cutting, colouring, and styling.

  • Fulltime hours

  • Monday to Thursday 9am to 4pm, Fridays 9am to 1pm (half-day self-directed learning on Fridays)

Entry requirements

  • Entry is open to beginners and all applicants are considered however you must be:

    • Able to demonstrate a basic understanding of spoken and written English 

  • It is also advisable that applicants have completed NCEA Level 1 

Qualification awarded


  • New Zealand Certificate in Hairdressing Salon Support (Level 3)

  • New Zealand Certificate in Hairdressing (Emerging Stylist) Level 4




You may qualify to have your course fees paid up to $12,000 for this programme by the government. Refer to the website to check and see if you are eligible
