NZ Certificate in Makeup and Skincare (Introductory)

Level 3

A comprehensive 16-week programme designed to provide an introduction to makeup and skincare.

Start your career as a Makeup Artist! This course will provide you with all the skills and technical know-how to assess a client’s skin and apply a range of makeup looks.

In this Level 3 programme, you will gain foundation skills and knowledge to undertake a range of makeup and skincare services, including consultations and product advice with clients, and makeup application for a range of different looks from evening, bridal, special occasion to daytime makeup.​

You’ll graduate prepared for a job with a top cosmetic house, to work as an entry level makeup artist, or with the skills to continue into our Level 4 Makeup Artistry programme.

Course Content

  • Perfect the art of providing a skin consultation and advise a client on a range of different cosmetics.

  • It’s all about eyes and brows right now. Learn how to make them pop like a pro.

  • Transform a client into a blushing bride, give a client a natural “no makeup” look or transform them with a dramatic night look.

  • You are your most important asset. Learn to sell yourself with networking and communication skills, and sales techniques.

  • Exclusive industry exposure: Meet exclusive guest speakers and go on industry partner tours so you can start to build contacts

  • Monday to Thursday 9am to 4pm, Fridays 9am to 1pm (half-day self-directed learning on Fridays)

Entry requirements

  • NCEA Level 1 or equivalent.

Qualification awarded

 

  • New Zealand Certificate in Makeup and Skincare Level 3

  • Eligibility for Credit Recognition entry to the Certificate in Makeup Artistry  for Fashion Film & Media (Level 4) 

 

Fees
 

$7,864 (includes $559 compulsory course costs)

You may qualify to have your course fees paid up to $12,000 for this programme by the government. Refer to the website www.feesfree.govt.nz to check and see if you are eligible

If you're eligible for fees free study you still need to apply for a Student Loan if you want to borrow course-related costs or living costs. You can apply through Studylink.
